Do your shop and your ERP know what’s really in stock?

SAP Business One is the ERP system for small and medium-sized enterprises. It covers finance, sales, purchasing, and warehouse management. Shopify is the global e-commerce platform for B2B and B2C. Together they form the backend and frontend of your digital business.

The SAP Business One Shopify Integration connects ERP inventory management with online sales. Orders from Shopify are automatically created as sales orders in Business One. Inventory levels, prices, and customer data flow bidirectionally and in real time. No overselling, no media breaks, no manual rework.

Which processes does the integration automate?

With MARINI, you synchronize business-critical data between Business One and Shopify. Without having to work in both systems in parallel.

Create orders automatically. Every Shopify order is directly captured as a sales order in SAP B1. Including customer data, line items, shipping address, and payment method. The order-to-cash process starts automatically as soon as the customer clicks Buy.

Synchronize inventory levels. Availability from Business One is displayed in real time in the shop. Even with multiple warehouse locations. This way your shop only sells what’s actually available for delivery. No disappointed customers, no cancellations.

Maintain prices centrally. Price lists from SAP B1 are used in the shop. Price changes, conditions, and discounts come directly from the ERP. One price for all channels, no inconsistencies.

Sync customer data. New customers from Shopify are automatically created as business partners in SAP B1. Existing customers are recognized and linked. Your customer database stays clean, without duplicates.

Process invoices and payments. Payment information from Shopify flows as incoming payments into the ERP. Invoice status and open items are current on both sides. Your accounting has all transactions correctly posted.

Update product data. Items, variants, and item groups from Business One are published as products and collections in the shop. Changes to descriptions, weight, or tax classes are automatically adopted.

From Integration to Results

The use cases on this page are not theoretical, but implementing them requires experience. You can set up integration and data management yourself through MARINI’s no-code interface, or have our team configure it for you. For implementation in your systems, we work collaboratively with you and your service providers. If you don’t yet have a suitable service provider, we’re happy to recommend an appropriate partner from our network.

What does the integration mean for management?

For: C-Level, Management, Business Development

Scaling without additional effort. With integration, your e-commerce business grows without additional administrative staff. Automation takes over what would otherwise require manual follow-up. You sell more without increasing process costs.

End-to-end transparency. Every order, every inventory level, every payment is visible in real time in both systems. You immediately see what’s running and where there are bottlenecks. Decisions are based on current data, not on yesterday’s Excel exports.

Fewer errors, more customer satisfaction. Media breaks and manual transfers are the most common source of errors in e-commerce. Integration eliminates them. Your customers get what they ordered, when they expect it. Fewer complaints, fewer goodwill costs.

How do departments work with the integration?

For: Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Operations

No more duplicate data maintenance. You change a price in Business One, it’s current in the shop. You maintain a new variant, it appears online. No coordination between systems, no follow-up questions, no waiting times.

Reliable delivery promises. Your customer service sees in the ERP whether an item is available, when the next delivery arrives, whether an order has already been picked. Callers receive precise information, not vague commitments.

Faster order processing. Orders are ready in the ERP within minutes. No waiting for data imports, no manual entry. Logistics can pack immediately, shipping can book immediately.

Cross-selling with real data. Marketing sees what customers viewed and bought in the shop. This data flows from Business One and can be used for personalized campaigns. Not theoretically, but today.

What changes for IT and admins?

For: IT, Development, System Architects, Admins

Service Layer instead of custom code. MARINI uses the official Service Layer API of SAP Business One. No DI API tinkering, no outdated SDKs. The integration is maintainable and future-proof.

Bidirectional sync without conflicts. You define which system is leading for which data. Prices come from B1, product descriptions from Shopify. MARINI orchestrates the flows and prevents overwrites.

Mapping for business partners and items. Customers, items, variants, and item groups are cleanly mapped. Custom fields and metafields can also be synchronized. You have full control over the structure.

Monitoring and error handling. Logs, alerts, and dashboards show you what was synchronized and where there are problems. Retry logic ensures that temporary failures don’t cause data loss.

Maximum Security and Stability

Business-critical data deserves maximum reliability. At MARINI, security isn’t an add-on—it’s our lived standard. Our security architecture at a glance:

  • GDPR-compliant and legally secured (including Swiss revDPA)
  • ISO 27001-certified data centers
  • Multiple daily backups across multiple locations
  • Incident response and recovery plans
  • Continuous monitoring and personal tech support

This keeps your central data infrastructure stable, protected, and scalable at all times. Together, we’ll find the right integration and tailor it precisely to your requirements.

Frequently asked questions about SAP Business One Shopify Integration

Typically, business partners as customers, items as products, sales orders, invoices, inventory levels, and price lists are synchronized. Variants, warehouse locations, and payment information can also be integrated. MARINI synchronizes bidirectionally so that data from both systems remains current.

Yes. For integration with SAP Business One, the Service Layer must be installed and configured. The Service Layer is the modern REST interface through which MARINI realizes the connection. Without an activated Service Layer, integration is not possible. Contact your SAP license provider for setup.

Yes. SAP Business One is often operated on-premises or hybrid. MARINI can also connect on-prem systems without requiring installations in the B1 system. The connection is made via the Service Layer, which is available both locally and in the cloud.

Shopify supports multiple locations. MARINI can assign inventory levels from different warehouses in Business One to the corresponding Shopify locations. You define which locations are visible in the shop and how available quantities are calculated. This keeps availability consistent across all channels.

Yes. MARINI can also integrate Shopify Plus B2B objects such as companies, company locations, and customer-specific price lists. This allows business customers to shop in the store with individual conditions from Business One. Synchronization also includes payment terms and customer-specific catalogs.

MARINI monitors all synchronization processes. In case of errors, you receive alerts via email or webhook. The platform offers retry logic for temporary failures and detailed logs for error analysis. This allows you to react quickly and ensure that no data is lost.
