Why are your Shopify store and your ERP telling different truths?

Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) manages financials, procurement, production, and logistics. Shopify is your customer-facing frontend. Without integration, both worlds operate in silos: Your store displays prices that are outdated in the ERP, sells items that aren’t in stock, and orders migrate manually from one system to the other.

The Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Shopify Integration connects both systems in real time. Orders are automatically created as Sales Orders in F&O, inventory levels flow into the store, prices and products are synchronized bidirectionally. The result: a seamless order-to-cash process without media breaks, accurate availability, and consistent data across all channels.

Which processes benefit from this integration?

The integration connects e-commerce with finance and supply chain management. From order to invoice, from product management to warehouse operations.

Automatically create orders as sales orders. Every Shopify order is transferred to F&O as a Sales Order in real time. Invoice status, delivery status, and tracking information flow back to the store. No copy-paste, no delays.

Synchronize inventory levels in real time. Availability from F&O is displayed in the store, multi-location scenarios are supported. Overselling is a thing of the past, delivery times are accurate.

Sync prices and products bidirectionally. Product data, price lists, and conditions from F&O are available in the store. Changes to items, descriptions, or variants are synchronized, regardless of which system they occur in.

Sync customer master data between store and ERP. Customers from Shopify are created as Customers in F&O, existing customers are recognized and linked. One data foundation for e-commerce, sales, and finance.

Transfer invoice and payment data. Payment details from Shopify flow into the ERP, invoices are automatically created and stored in the customer account. Accounting has all the information it needs.

Map returns and cancellations. When an order is cancelled in the store or in F&O, both systems are updated. Returns are recorded, credit notes automatically created.

From Integration to Results

The use cases on this page are not theoretical, but implementing them requires experience. You can set up integration and data management yourself through MARINI’s no-code interface, or have our team configure it for you. For implementation in your systems, we work collaboratively with you and your service providers. If you don’t yet have a suitable service provider, we’re happy to recommend an appropriate partner from our network.

What does the integration bring to management?

For: C-Level, Management, Business Development

End-to-end order-to-cash without manual intervention. Everything runs automatically from shopping cart to invoice. You sell more, deliver faster, and reduce error rates. This lowers costs and increases customer satisfaction.

Scalability for growth. New markets, new product lines, more orders: The integration grows with you. F&O handles the complexity, Shopify delivers the frontend. MARINI keeps both synchronized, even at high volumes.

Data-driven decisions instead of gut feeling. When store and ERP use the same data, you can analyze revenue, margins, and inventory across all channels. You see what’s actually working and can react faster.

How do departments benefit from the integration?

For: E-Commerce Managers, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Operations

No more overselling. The store displays availability from F&O in real time. Customers see what’s actually available for delivery. This reduces complaints and improves customer experience.

Product maintenance in one place. New items, price changes, variants: You maintain them in F&O, they appear automatically in the store. Or vice versa. The integration ensures both systems stay current.

Delivery status visible in customer account. Fulfillment and tracking information from F&O is displayed in the Shopify customer account. Your customers always know where their order stands. This reduces support inquiries.

Order history for personalized marketing. Which products did the customer buy, when, how often? This data flows into your marketing automation and CRM. You can make targeted offers and encourage repeat purchases.

Why is IT interested in this integration?

For: IT, Development, System Architects, Admins

F&O OData API and Shopify GraphQL seamlessly connected. MARINI uses the native APIs of both systems. No proprietary interfaces, no black box. You maintain control and can customize as needed.

On-premise F&O? No problem. Dynamics F&O is often operated on-premise or in private cloud. MARINI can also connect on-prem systems, encrypted and secure.

Field mapping, validation, conflict resolution. What happens when an item has different names in both systems? How do we handle duplicates? MARINI offers mapping rules, validation, and conflict management. You define the logic.

Monitoring, logs, alerts. You see in real time which data is being synchronized, where errors occur, and how they were resolved. All logs are available, alerts proactively inform your team.

Maximum Security and Stability

Business-critical data deserves maximum reliability. At MARINI, security isn’t an add-on—it’s our lived standard. Our security architecture at a glance:

  • GDPR-compliant and legally secured (including Swiss revDPA)
  • ISO 27001-certified data centers
  • Multiple daily backups across multiple locations
  • Incident response and recovery plans
  • Continuous monitoring and personal tech support

This keeps your central data infrastructure stable, protected, and scalable at all times. Together, we’ll find the right integration and tailor it precisely to your requirements.

Frequently asked questions about Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Shopify Integration

Typically, Customers, Products, Sales Orders, Inventory Levels, Fulfillments, Invoices, and Payment Details are synchronized bidirectionally. MARINI can sync all relevant objects in real time, including custom fields and metafields.

Yes. Dynamics 365 F&O is often operated on-premise or in private cloud. MARINI can securely connect on-prem systems without requiring installation in the ERP or store. All connections are encrypted.

Shopify supports multiple locations, F&O works with warehouses and sites. MARINI can sync inventory per location/warehouse and display it in the store. You define which F&O warehouse locations are linked to which Shopify locations.

The cancellation is transmitted to F&O, the Sales Order is updated or cancelled. It works the same way in reverse: If an order is cancelled in F&O, the status is updated in the store. Both systems remain consistent.

Yes. F&O supports Trade Agreements and customer-specific conditions. MARINI can transfer these prices to Shopify, for example via Shopify Plus PriceLists or through dynamic price calculation at checkout. Each customer sees their individual prices.

There are point-to-point connectors from providers like Folio3, i95Dev, or APPSeCONNECT. These are often specialized for Shopify and F&O but offer less flexibility in multi-system scenarios. MARINI differentiates itself through real-time synchronization, no-code interface, EU hosting, and the ability to connect F&O with any additional systems, such as CRM or marketing automation.
