Security Group Settings

Configuration Options

1. Rights Behavior: Additive or Strict
   • Additive: Rights are cumulatively added. A user receives all rights assigned to them through various groups.
   • Strict: Rights are restricted. A user only has the strictest rights that are set in all assigned groups.

   • Decide whether a popup should appear when creating a new user to assign the user to existing groups. This ensures that rights management is not forgotten.
3. Inheritance of Group Rights
   • Determine how group rights are inherited to records:
     • Creator User: A record is always assigned to the group to which the user belongs who creates the record.
     • Assignee User: A record is always assigned to the group to which the user belongs who is assigned the record.
4. Default Group When Creating New Records
   • Specify whether there is a default group that is assigned to a new record. This can ensure that new users are first assigned to a group that has no rights, to prevent them from seeing too much.
5. Priority of Roles over Permission Groups
   • Decide whether roles assigned directly to the user take precedence over the permission groups.
6. Visibility of Users When Assigning
   • Determine whether users can only see users of their own permission group when assigning.
7. Record Assignment with Multiple Group Memberships
   • If a record is created by a user who belongs to multiple groups, a popup opens to decide in which group the record is created.
8. Inheritance of Records
   • Determine whether records are inherited from parent records. For example, a contact could inherit the roles of the parent account.
9. Access to Mailboxes
   • Specify whether access to mailboxes is only allowed if the user is assigned to a corresponding group.

How to Configure the Permission Group Settings

1. Open your DataEngine and go to the top menu bar.
2. Click on the Admin menu item.
3. Then select Permission Group Settings.
