Password Management

This guide explains step by step how you can use the password management in your DataEngine. The password management helps you to define and manage security standards within the DataEngine.

Accessing Password Management

  1. Open your DataEngine and go to the top menu bar.
  2. Click on the Admin menu item.
  3. Then select Password Management.

System-Generated Passwords

  • Activation: Decide whether system-generated passwords are active for new user creation or password resets. By default, these are always active.
  • Validity Duration: Determine how long system-generated passwords are valid (e.g., in days or attempts).

Password Security Settings

Define which security criteria a password must meet. For example:

  • Uppercase letters
  • Lowercase letters
  • Numbers
  • Special characters
  • Minimum length (e.g., 8 characters)

Password Reset Function

  • Reset Option: Decide whether users have the option to use the password reset function.
  • Validity Duration: Determine how long these reset passwords are valid.

Configure Email Notifications

  • System-Generated Password: Define which email is sent when a system-generated password is created.
  • Password Forgot Function: Determine which email is sent when a user uses the password forgot function.
  • Two-Factor Email: Specify which email is sent when a two-factor code is required.

Note on Emails

  • If no custom mailbox is set up in the email settings, the default DataEngine emails are sent.
  • If a mailbox is configured, custom email templates with individual texts can be defined.

Additional Settings

  1. Login with Passkey/WebAuthN Set Option: Decide whether users are allowed to log in with a Passkey/WebAuthN without a username.
  2. LDAP or SAML Integration Password Management: Decide whether passwords can only be managed with LDAP or SAML.
