Switching to a new device can be exciting but also a bit challenging, especially when it comes to transferring your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) settings. Here’s a simple guide to help you through this process:

1. Preparation

Save Backup Codes:

Before doing anything, make sure to store all relevant backup codes securely. These codes are your key to access in case your device is damaged.

Check Your Authenticator App:

If you still have access to your old device, check if your authenticator app offers a feature to transfer accounts to a new device. Many common apps do offer this feature now. Look online for specific instructions.

2. Setting Up Your New Device

Install the MFA App:

Download the authenticator app from the respective app store on your new device.

Transfer Accounts:

If your app supports account transfer and you still have your old device, follow the app’s instructions to transfer your accounts to the new device.

3. Access Without the Old Device

If you no longer have access to your old device, use the stored backup codes to regain access to your account. Here’s how:

Login with a Backup Code:

Use one of these codes to log into your account.

Add New Device:

Once logged in, go to your account’s security settings and add your new device. You will need the MFA app on your new device for this. The old device can be deleted.
